How to get sms alerts when new email arrives in Outlook?

1) In Outlook Web App, click Options > See All Options > Phone > Text Messaging tab.
Click Turn on Notifications.
2) In the Text Messaging dialog box, select your locale and mobile operator, and then click Next.
3) Enter your phone number and click Next.
4) Your mobile phone will receive a passcode. Enter that passcode, and then click Finish

However, I do not or can not find a See All Options tab?.

If anyone can help, would be most appreciated.

Forum Member Are you using the Outlook Web App or just outlook.com? I suspect the latter. gomezz Posts: 45,301 Forum Member What is wrong with using the standard email notification on your phone? newlight1 Posts: 818 Forum Member

He means, does your phone have email? newlight1 Posts: 818 Forum Member

ohh I see, yes my Samsung B2100 has the internet which I can log onto and then into outlook to check my emails, but dont know how to set it up so I get alerts when a new email comes though?

Why don't you set up the email app so emails are delivered to your phone? I think that's what was being suggested in earlier replies. Outlook is just one of many clients.

As long as you set it up not to delete the message off the server, you can read the email on your phone, then go to your main Outlook later for filing etc.

I think what the OP is looking at is a message exactly when an email is received like a push mail service rather than waiting for his phone to check for new emails every 10 minutes or so.

I have an Iphone and use an App called Boxcar that pushes a message instantly when I receive an email, the trouble is you have to setup your email server to forward a copy of every email received to them so may not be to everybodies taste. Not sure if something similar is available for android though?

Yes thats right, I would like a text message everytime a new email comes into my outlook box, rather than having to keep checking my outlook every few mins.

I just have a samsung B2100 so not sure if I can use Boxcar or if there is another app I can use?

I don't think you can install apps on a samsung B2100 as it's not a smartphone is it? newlight1 Posts: 818 Forum Member I don't think you can install apps on a samsung B2100 as it's not a smartphone is it?
Nope its not a smartphone, not sure what my options are? if any, c4rv Posts: 30,082 Forum Member I don't think you can install apps on a samsung B2100 as it's not a smartphone is it?

Nope, its extremely basic. Fact it can do e-mails is a surprise.

OP, I believe outlook web apps runs on a PC so if you have a PC switched on and the web app running during working hours (or whenever you want this notification to happen) then you can set it up to send the SMS messages.

Thanks for that, any idea how I set that up? I know that I googled it and came up with this but the buttons they were saying did not exist in my outlook?

From the top line, do any of these apply to you ?

Applies to: Office 365 for professionals and small businesses, Office 365 for enterprises, Microsoft Exchange, Live@edu

I have used google and found this:

Callout 1 Click to open the Desktop Alert menu.
Callout 2 Click to turn off Desktop Alerts.
Notice also that you can do other things from the Desktop Alerts menu, such as open, flag, or delete the new message, mark the message as read, or open the Desktop Alert Settings dialog box, where you can specify how long the Desktop Alert should remain visible on the screen and how transparent it should be. See the next section for details.

Turn on alerts
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail Options.
Under When new items arrive in my Inbox, select the Display a New Mail Desktop Alert (default Inbox only) check box.

I goto tools menu, click options - then I look for E-mail options and I see no "Email Options" I do see "Connect devices and apps with POP" So not sure if thats what I need to do? Does anyone know how to do this at all?

You don't have Office Outlook
You don't have the Outlook Web App
The information you are quoting does not apply.

If you want push email on your phone you should have bought a smartphone.
